“Always Do the Right Thing”
The Strong Foundation of PATCO Construction
A strong foundation is central to PATCO Construction’s story, just as it is at the heart of every project the company builds. It all began in 1985, when Irving Patterson invited his son Mark to come work with him at what was then a small residential construction company. Son Greg joined a few years later as a third partner and helped the company expand into commercial construction. Over the years, the Patterson family has always focused on doing the right thing and putting the customer first, an approach that has earned them loyal customers and helped their company grow. A Sanford native, Irving never could have envisioned that his small family-run business would become a pillar of the Sanford business community and a leader in Maine and New Hampshire’s construction industry. However, when the values of teamwork and integrity are a part of your foundation, it’s easy to see how PATCO Construction has been serving Maine and New Hampshire for over 35 years.
In the early years of the company, the Patterson family all worked together to build the business, with Irving, Mark, and Greg taking the lead and Irving’s wife Lorene, and three other sons helping out when needed. “When you are in business with your family you make it work,” says Mark. “You always come back together because you are family.” The hard work and commitment to client satisfaction paid off and what started as a four-person company has grown into a team of over thirty construction professionals. From the family founders to their employees, everyone at PATCO shares the same values and shows the same attention to detail and desire to exceed customer expectations.
When Irving retired in 2005, Mark and Greg split PATCO Construction into two divisions: Residential and Commercial. Both brothers have always viewed their customers as partners in the design-build process, and both understand that their success depends on the satisfaction of every customer. By dividing the company into two divisions, each could focus on providing excellent service to their specific markets. Mark, with his experience in design and turning client ideas into reality, went on to lead the residential sector and Greg, with his focus on innovative building solutions, led the commercial side of the business. Under the leadership of Mark and Greg, PATCO Construction has grown into the respected company it is today. While the Patterson brothers have different personalities and strengths, they have always shared the same goal: to provide uncompromising service and dedication to every building project they tackle.
Mark
With the strong foundation of PATCO Construction firmly in place, Mark and Greg feel confident about the business they have built and the team they have hired. “Our clients know we always do the right thing,” says Greg. PATCO Construction’s biggest referral source has always been their happy customers, both on the commercial and residential side. Clients know that when you work with someone from PATCO Construction, you work with someone who values integrity, fairness, respect and loyalty. “Most people only think about today,” shares Greg. “We’ve always thought about tomorrow.” When asked about their leadership tenure, Mark and Greg both express their love of the work, their teams, and their customers. By continuing to build upon the company’s 35 years of success, the future of PATCO Construction is limitless.
