At Waypoint in Sanford, the mission is clear: to support and empower children and adults with intellectual and other disabilities so they can live fulfilling, independent lives. Through a wide range of services—including case management, clinical supports, residential programs, shared living, remote support, and a special purpose private school—Waypoint is making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families across Maine.

A Fresh Look with PATCO Construction

Earlier this year, PATCO Construction partnered with Waypoint to complete a major renovation at their Springvale location on Pleasant. Street. The project transformed 5,000 square feet of interior space into a much more welcoming space with updated administrative offices, conference rooms, a kitchen, and more. The exterior of the 7,000 square foot building was also redesigned to reflect Waypoint’s brand, creating a warm and modern environment for staff and visitors alike.

Allowing Waypoint to continue operations during construction added a layer of challenge, as did delays on materials and supplies. Still, PATCO delivered thoughtful solutions and consistent communication. The result is a refreshed and functional space that Waypoint staff are proud to call their workplace. As Executive Director Jennifer Putnam shared:

“We are so pleased with the building re-design. Working with PATCO was a wonderful experience—they listened to our needs, considered our budget thoughtfully, and the result is a space that our employees are happy to work in every day.”

The 14th Annual Waypoint Golf Tournament

Beyond their facilities, Waypoint’s community impact continues through events like the upcoming 14th Annual Waypoint Golf Tournament. This annual event raises essential funds to support Waypoint’s Special Olympic athletes, ensuring they have the resources to participate and excel in the 2026 Special Olympics.

Proceeds directly cover travel expenses and provide scholarships for year-round physical fitness training. Thanks to this support, athletes can pursue their goals and compete at the Maine Special Olympics in Orono each summer.

This year’s tournament is nearly full, but there’s still room for new teams to join in the fun while supporting a great cause. More than just a day on the course, the tournament is a celebration of community, perseverance, and the athletes’ dedication.

You can register a team for the golf tournament here.

Direct donations are also accepted.

A Partnership that Builds Community

Waypoint’s partnership with PATCO demonstrates what’s possible when organizations work together to strengthen their community. From renovating spaces that empower staff to hosting events that fund life-changing opportunities, Waypoint is truly building brighter futures.
