For nearly 30 years, PATCO Construction (PATCO) has partnered with Varco Pruden, one of the nation’s largest building solutions companies, for our metal building supplies. Each year, Varco Pruden presents its Hall of Fame awards to a builder whose “work reflects innovation and excellence through the integration of [Varco Pruden] building systems, products, architectural appearance, end use and design.” PATCO is thrilled to announce that three of our projects were recognized in the 2024 Hall of Fame: Eldredge Lumber, Colonial Storage, and Waterboro Safe Storage!
“It’s exciting because these are projects the whole team worked on together,” shares PATCO Executive Vice President Jon Bell. “We designed them in our office and we built them in the field.
Collaboration is a hallmark of every PATCO project, whether the team is working with architects and engineers or designing a project in-house. Each of the three projects that were honored in Varco Pruden’s 2024 Hall of Fame were built through PATCO’s Design-Build Process and featured interesting architectural details. “We find a lot of pride in making pre-engineered metal buildings pretty, which is not always the first thing on people’s mind when they think of a storage or manufacturing building. We like to do things other people can’t or don’t think of,” shares Bell. For example Waterboro Safe Storage could have been a plain metal building, but PATCO used the town’s design requirements as a reason to get creative. The building incorporates several false barn doors and cupolas, which help break up the metal siding and also capture the essence of a quintessential Maine barn. With the Eldredge Lumber project, PATCO thought outside the box of typical metal buildings again, and incorporated materials such as masonry, hardy-plank siding, and cedar shakes for architectural interest.
This isn’t the first time PATCO projects have been recognized in the Varco Pruden Hall of Fame. Greg Patterson has been submitting projects for recognition for 30 years and PATCO has received over 50 design awards. The awards are all hanging on the wall at the PATCO office, a testament to the level of excellence that PATCO delivers year after year. Says Bell, “Winning over 50 awards in 30 years sets us apart from other pre-engineered builders. We can do things people might not have thought possible.
